We are pleased to announce a significant expansion of the Levin Center’s Congressional Oversight Records Database (CORD) focused on temporary and select congressional committees created to investigate specific events, crises, or policy questions.
Unlike previous CORD releases, this update brings together a group of short-term and special-purpose committees. These committees were established to carry out a defined investigative mission and typically produced one or two major oversight reports before being disbanded.
The release adds 57 oversight reports produced by 12 select and temporary committees in both the U.S. House and Senate. For a further 5 committees, no oversight reports were found that match CORD’s search methodology and oversight report definition. CORD has now completed a total of 32 committees and hosts a total of 2,309 oversight reports.
With this release, CORD has jumped over the mid-way point! Of the total 54 congressional committees to cover, CORD now hosts oversight reports from 32 committees leading to 59% completion!
